Conference USA Cross Country Championships
The TCU men's and women's cross country teams will return to action this weekend when they travel to Greenville, North Carolina to compete in the 2001 Conference USA Cross Country Championships. The championships will be hosted by East Carolina at Lake Kristi on Saturday, October 27. The men's 8,000 meter race will begin at 9 a.m. (central time), with the women's 6,000-meter race following at 9:45 a.m. (central time).

Team Notes
Last year, the women's team captured the 2000 WAC team title with 35 points... the title was the first ever conference team crown for the women's cross country team... the TCU men finished sixth with 111 points... Glady's Keitany led the women with a first-place finish... she became the first TCU female runner to capture the individual conference championship... this season, Keitany has won three individual titles, raising her career total to seven... she was named the Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week on October 8... Keitany claimed individual honors at the North Texas Invitational on October 5, leading the TCU women to the team title... she placed first out of 107 runners and posted a time of 17:27... Keitany opened the fall with a first-place finish (11:18 time in the two-mile course) in the UTA Challenge... Keitany then won the Baylor Invitational with a time of 17:22 in the 5000-meter race... in the Arkansas Chile Pepper, Keitany finished fourth in a field of 240 runners... Cindy Dietrich's best finish of the season was a fifth-place showing at the UTA Challenge Dietrich also finished sixth at the UNT Invitational, ninth at the Baylor Invitational and 16th at the Chile Pepper... Robin Schacht, who finished fourth in last year's WAC Championships, placed ninth at the UNT Invitational... Eliud Njubi, an all-American last season, led the men with a first-place finish at the 2000 WAC Cross Country Championships... the win marked the second TCU male runner to win a individual team title at a conference meet... he was named the WAC Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year after winning the WAC individual title... this season, Njubi has three first-place finishes in four events... he won the UTA Challenge, Baylor Invitational and UNT Invitational... he placed second at the Chile Pepper... overall, he has seven career titles at TCU.... Njubi has twice been named the Conference USA Cross Country Male co-Athlete of the Week... he first earned the honor on October 8 after he finished first out of 89 runners at the UNT Invitational... he ran the 8000-meter event in a time of 24:49... Njubi won the four-mile UTA Challenge with a time of 19:54, then took individual honors at Baylor with a time of 24:45 in the five-mile course... he was also named the C-USA Cross Country Male co-Athlete of the Week on October 16 after he placed second at the Chile Pepper... Bryan Katchinska has two top-20 finishes, including a 17-place finish at UTA.
