FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU soccer fans will be in for more than just a doubleheader treat on Friday afternoon at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. For the first time in the program's history, the matches will be broadcast live on the radio.
KTCU 88.7 FM will carry both matches in their entireties, with Russell Scott, Jay Fitzgerald and Randy Myers calling the action. In addition, fans may listen via the internet on KTCU's official website: www.ktcu.tcu.edu.
"This is something we have really been looking forward to doing for quite some time," said TCU Director of Broadcasting Brian Estridge. "Now with the upgrade in facilities at the soccer stadium, we have been able to make the idea a reality. We look forward to Friday and hope that we can do more soccer matches in the future."
Both teams are playing crucial Conference USA matches as the TCU women (7-8-0, 3-4-0 C-USA) host Tulane (7-6-0, 5-2-0) starting at 1:00 p.m., while the men (4-7-1, 2-3-0) cap off the doubleheader with a match against Marquette (7-5-1, 3-3-0) at 3:30 p.m.
"We're happy to have the games on radio," said head coach Dave Rubinson. "Weekday afternoon matches are sometimes hard for our fans to attend, so those people will be able to follow the Frogs on the radio. It's exciting for the kids to be a part of it too."
