Eliud Njubi Named Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week

C-USA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Men - Eliud Njubi, TCU and Chris Reis, Cincinnati
For the second consecutive week, TCU's Eliud Njubi has been named the Conference USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week. Njubi claimed second place out of 238 competitors at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival with a time of 30:02. Njubi, competing against several of the top ranked teams including No. 3 Arkansas and No. 6 Portland, led TCU to a 23rd-place finish. Njubi had won each of his first three events this season. After winning the UNT Invitational, he was named the C-USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 8.
Reis finished 13th out of 242 runners with a time of 24:45 at the Pre-NCAA Meet to lead the Beacats to a seventh-place showing in the team standings. The event was split into two equal races and Reis' time was the 19th fastest overall. This season, Reis has led the Bearcats in all races, claiming two individual titles.
Women -Johanna Allen, East Carolina
Allen set an ECU and personal best time of 17:00 to claim top honors at the North Carolina Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships in the 5,000-meter event. She is undefeated this season in five races while leading the Pirates to their third team title.

Charlotte finished 15th at the Furman Invitational on Oct. 13. CASSIE FICKEN finished 31st to lead the 49ers with a time of 23:20. LAURA SYRACUSE was 51st with a with a time of 23:44, while LISA OTTENS (25:43) and CLAIRE SHEPHERD (25:44) placed 161st and 162nd, respectively ... Cincinnati earned seventh place at the Ohio Invitational on Oct. 13. ANGIE KIST (18:17) finished fourth out of 119 runners. Sophomore JENNIFER LIMLE cut 20 seconds off her time from a week ago with a time of 19:15 to finish 13th... Sophomore ERIN MOFFET led DePaul to a sixth-place finish at the UW-Parkside Invitational on Oct. 13. Moffett finished the 5,000-meter course in 19:31, while freshman MARLENE KEY (19:33) claimed 22nd overall. JESSICA KARLIN covered the course in 19:46 to earn 35th place ... East Carolina's JOHANNA ALLEN earned her fifth medalist honor of the season after finishing first at the North Carolina Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships on Oct. 13. Juniors KELLI LITTEN (17:48) and KAY LIVICK (17:57) took second and third, respectively ... Houston finished fourth out of 18 teams at the Texas A&M Invitational on Oct. 13. JESSIE OAKES placed seventh overall with a time of 23:27 ... Marquette turned in a 10th-place showing out of 37 teams at the Pre-NCAA meet in Greenville, S.C. SUSAN BARTH led the Golden Eagle contingent, placing 28th out of 246 runners with a time of 21:45. Sophomore BRIANNA DAHM brought home a 33rd-place finish with a mark of 21:50, while junior JACKIE SWAN (22:45) posted an 89th-place showing ... Memphis finished second out of 14 teams at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn. WENDY RAGLE was the Tigers' top finisher, posting a time of 21:12.65 for 11th place, while LESLIE DALEY (21:22.7) and ANDREA DAHLMAN (21:55.67) followed in 13th and 19th place, respectively ... Saint Louis claimed 13th place out of 30 teams at the UW-Parkside Invitational on Oct. 13. Freshman EMILY ZIMMERMAN tied her career-best time of 20:16 to finish 63rd. SARAH MOBERG crossed the line in 68th place with a time of 20:20 ... JANET RONO led Southern Miss to the team title at the Mississippi College Cross Country Invitational. Rono (18:35.85) earned her first individual medalist honors of the season. ROSE KURUI also finished in the top 10, posting a time of 20:02.90 for sixth place, while JESSICA CRUMP (20:09.91) followed in seventh ... TCU tied for ninth out of 27 teams at the 10th Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. GLADY'S KEITANY finished fourth with a time of 21:17 and CINDY DIETRICH (22:10) earned a 16th place showing ... Tulane defeated New Orleans in a dual meet on Oct. 12. LYNDIE GALKA covered the two-mile course in 10:14 to earn top medalist honors, while sophomores CARLYNE PRADIEU and SHEENA GARWOOD finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

ED SCHLICHTER (26:52) and JOSH BAKER (27:11) were Charlotte's second and third runners ... Junior Chris Reis finished 13th individually to lead Cincinnati to a 19th place finish at the Pre-NCAA Meet on Oct. 13. DAN CASEY finished 94th with a time of 24:51, while sophomore ERIC STENDER posted a time of 26:07, shaving off 21 seconds from his previous season-best ... DePaul finished seventh at the UW-Parkside Invitational. CHRIS BIRCHALL continued his outstanding senior season with a 12th-place overall finish in a time of 26:36. LUIS SAMAYOA took 20th place, while RICK BRITTON was 31st overall in 27:28 ... East Carolina came in second at the North Carolina Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships on Oct. 13. Senior captain CHARLES NICKUM was the top finisher for the Pirates, taking second with a time of 25:21. Freshman KYLE MACKENZIE finished sixth with a time of 25:44 and MATT HANLON followed in 14th place with a time of 26:08 ...
