Cross Country Travels to Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas

10th Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival
The TCU men's and women's cross country teams will return to action this weekend when they travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the 10th Annual Chile Pepper Festival. The Invitational will be hosted by the University of Arkansas at Agri Park Cross Country Course on Saturday, October 13. The men's 10 K race will begin 9:30 a.m., with the women's 6000-meter race following at 10:30 a.m.

Last Year at the Chile Pepper Festival
The women's team finished second as a team, tallying 71 points with four runners placing in the top-20. Glady's Keitany led TCU as she finished third in the 6000-meter race with a time of 20:57. Robin Schacht followed close behind with a time of 21:14 to place fifth. The men sent only four runners to the Chile Pepper Festival last season. Justin Speer led the TCU men with a 52nd-place finish.
Keitany named C-USA Athlete of the Week
Senior Glady's Keitany was named the Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week of October 8. Keitany claimed individual honors at the North Texas Invitational on October 5, leading the TCU women to the team title. She placed first out of 107 runners and posted a time of 17:27. Keitany has won all three events this fall, beginning with a first-place finish (11:18 time in the two-mile course) in the UTA Challenge. Keitany then won the Baylor Invitational with a time of 17:22 in the 5000-meter race. Overall, Keitany has won seven cross country events in her career.
Njubi named C-USA Athlete of the Week
Senior Eliud Njubi was named the Conference USA Cross Country Male co-Athlete of the Week for the week of October 8. Njubi finished first out of 89 runners at the UNT Invitational. He ran the 8000-meter event in a time of 24:49. The individual title was his third of the season and his seventh in two years. Njubi won the four-mile UTA Challenge with a time of 19:54, then took individual honors at Baylor with a time of 24:45 in the five-mile course.
