Dallas Baptist Defeats TCU, 9-6

DALLAS, Tex. (Feb. 29) Dallas Baptist scored six runs in the first two innings and then held on for a 9-6 victory over TCU Tuesday at Patriot Field. The loss was the second straight for TCU.
Dallas Baptist scored four runs in the first on six hits, chasing TCU starter Mike Srp. The Patriots added two more runs in the second inning, building a 6-0 lead. The Frogs got back into the game in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, two coming on Shaun Wooley's first home run of the year. TCU threatened in the fifth, loading the bases with two outs. However, Tom Bates sinking line drive to center field was caught, leaving the bases loaded.
Dallas Baptist increased the lead to six runs, scoring three times in the sixth inning. DBU had five hits in the inning, including Cody Sadler's two-run home run to right field.
TCU closed the gap to three runs in the seventh, scoring three runs on four hits, a hit batsmen and a sacrifice fly. Once again, the Frogs left two men on the bases. TCU threatened in the ninth as the Frogs picked up two hits in the inning with one out, but the Frogs were unable to score.
Levi Groomer reached base in all five plate appearances. He was hit twice and singled three times. He has now reached base safely in eight consecutive plate appearances.
TCU will return to action on Friday, when they open Western Athletic Conference play against San Jose State. First-pitch is scheduled for 2:35 p.m.
