TCU Women Cruise Past Tulsa, 80-58

FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 5) -- Junior guard Jill Sutton scored a season-high 21 points to lead TCU past Tulsa, 80-58, in women's college basketball Saturday.
TCU (12-11, 3-5) built an 11-point margin, 36-25, with 1:31 left before intermission, and carried a 36-28 lead into halftime, despite connecting on just 38 percent of its shots in the opening period.
In the second half, the Horned Frogs heated up, hitting 13 of 19 shots from the field, for an 68.4 accuracy rate, carrying a double-digit lead the entire period. Sutton tallied 13 of her 21 points in the second stanza, going 3 of 6 from the field, and 6-for-6 at the line. She got scoring help from Janice Thomas with 18, and 11 from Diamond Jackson. TCU had four players haul in six or more rebounds in the game, and easily won the rebounding category, 47-47.
Tulsa (9-11, 5-3) got 20 points from Lila Osceola, with Denise Wagner adding 14, and Kasie Pittman chipping in with 11. The Golden Hurricane managed just 31 percent shooting in the second half, and were out-rebounded 24-11 in the final period.
The victory avenged a Jan. 8 loss at Tulsa, 68-55. The Horned Frogs are on the road for the next two games, taking on Hawai'i on Feb. 10, and battling San Jose State on Feb. 12.
