TCU Races Past Jaguars, 95-55

FORT WORTH (Dec. 31) - Senior guard Diamond Jackson scored 21 points to lead TCU over South Alabama, 95-55, in women's college basketball Friday.
The Horned Frogs (9-5) led by five, 42-37, with 16:42 remaining in the game, before going on a 16-5 run over the next four and a half minutes to take a 56-42 advantage with 12:13 to play. Jackson scored five points in that spree, with Janice Thomas tallying four, Jill Sutton adding three, Amy Sutton two, and Kim Walter two points. The Jaguars cut the margin to 10, 58-48, at the 10:56 mark, but TCU put together an 21-5 run, to push the margin to 26, 79-53, with 4:15 left. Tricia Payne, Jackson and Thomas each scored six points during that stretch.
TCU also got double-figure scoring from Payne with 13, Thomas with 12, and Karen Clayton with 11. Amy Sutton and Clayton topped the Frogs with seven rebounds apiece.
South Alabama (5-6) was paced by Johnita Conrad's 17 points, and Bell Jordan chipped in with 12.
The Horned Frogs connected on 65 percent of their second half shots, hitting 20 of 31 attempts, and also finished 19-of-23 at the free throw line, good for 83 percent accuracy.
TCU travels to San Diego State on Jan. 4 for a 9 p.m. tipoff with the Aztecs.
