The 2001 schedule includes home dates with defending Conference USA champion Louisville, East Carolina and Army, while the Frogs will travel to Houston, Tulane, Mobile Bowl opponent Southern Mississippi and UAB. Dates will be announced at a later time.
We are excited to have the caliber of these opponents coming to Fort Worth in 2001, said Hyman. These are nationally-known and respected programs that bring a high level of competitiveness to the field.
Louisville won the 2000 Conference USA championship with a 6-1 league record. The Cardinals are ranked 22nd in the country with a 9-2 record overall and will face Colorado State in the AXA Liberty Bowl on December 29. East Carolina finished in a tie for second in Conference USA this past season with a 5-2 mark. The Pirates are 7-4 overall and will take on Texas Tech in the galleryfurniture.com Bowl in Houston on December 27. Army logged a 1-6 conference record and a 1-10 record overall in 2000.
We have an excellent home schedule with three of the five games featuring bowl teams, said Hyman. When you add Marshall, who is playing in the Motor City Bowl, to Louisville and East Carolina, along with the tradition and national appeal of Army, it's an attractive home schedule.
Along with the home game vs. Marshall, the Frogs have a non-conference home game set with Northwestern State (Louisiana). The road non-conference slate includes dates with local rivals North Texas and SMU.
