"Our mission is to find the best coach available to continue the success that Coach Fran and his staff have brought back to TCU and Fort Worth," said Hyman. Based on the recent success on the field, the commitment this university has shown to the football program and with the move to Conference USA next season, this has become a very attractive coaching position. Although no timetable has been set, we anticipate moving quickly to narrow down the list of candidates and identify who best fits the criteria we've established and lead our program over the next several years," said Hyman.
"We appreciate the job Coach Fran has done in his three years at TCU and wish him the best of luck at the University of Alabama," added Hyman.
The Horned Frogs finished the 2000 regular season with a 10-1 record and are ranked 13th in the Associated Press and 15th in the ESPN/Coaches Poll. They will play in the GMAC Mobile Alabama Bowl against Southern Mississippi on December 20.
