Njubi, Mwangi and Keitany Compete In NCAA Cross Country Meet

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Nov. 20) - Three TCU runners competed at the NCAA Championship Cross Country Meet, held in Ames, Iowa Nov. 20.
Eliud Njubi, who was the WAC individual champion, South Central Region champion and WAC Male Athlete of the Year in cross country, finished 28th, completing the 10K course in 30:58.0. Teammate Herbert Mwangi logged a time of 31:21.2 to place 54th.
On the women's side Gladys Keitany finished 40th overall, completing the 6,000-meter course in 21:28.5. Keitany was the WAC individual champion and Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year. She finished third in the South Central Regional.
Arkansas won the men's team competition while Providence College's senior Keith Kelly was the individual champion, winning the race in a time of 30:14.5. Colorado captured the women's team title, with Kara Grgas-Wheeler, a senior for the Buffaloes, taking the individual honors in a time of 20:30.5. South Central Regional rivals Arkansas and Texas A&M finished 13th and 18th respectively among the 31 teams competing for the women's crown.
