Cross Country Runners Run All Over During the Weekend

On Saturday, the women's team competed at the Chile Pepper Invitational. The Frogs finished second as a team tallying 71 points and four individual runners finished in the top 20.
Junior Glady's Keitany led TCU as she finished third in the 6000-meter race in 20:57. Keitany has finished as one of the top three in each race she has competed in this year. She has also managed to claim three individual titles this season.
Junior Robin Schacht followed close behind in the 6k race. She finished fifth in a time of 21:14. Schacht has consistently finished the as the No. 2 runner throughout the season.
The Frogs also found success from junior Katie Singleton, finishing 14th in 22:14, and freshman Allie Koons, finishing 20th clocking in at 22:33. Junior Georgeanne Biancardi rounded up the Frogs scoring runner in 29th in 22:50.
The Frogs came in second as a team only 28 points short of national-powerhouse and 12th-ranked host Arkansas. The Frogs finished ahead of the University of New Orleans by 32 points. TCU also finished ahead of top-notch teams as Baylor, Iowa, Texas-Arlington, Oklahoma and Kansas. The meet consisted of a 25-team field which is the largest in collegiate cross country race ever held in the northwest Arkansas.
The men's squad was split up during the weekend. The team competed in College Station at the Texas A&M Invitational while the Frogs top runners, Eliud Njubi and Herbert Mwangi, competed at the covenant 28th Memorial Cross Country Pre-National Meet in Ames, Iowa on the campus of Iowa State.
At the Pre-National Meet, junior Eliud Njubi and sophomore Herbert Mwangi represented the Frogs. Eliud finished the 10,000-meter race 13th in a time of 31:19.3. Mwangi finished closely behind in the 10k in 15th place in 31:24.4. The Pre-National Meet is a preview of the national competition at the upcoming NCAA Cross Country Championships, in Ames on Nov. 20. The Frogs did not compete in the team competition of the meet.
The rest of the men's team competed at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas on Saturday. The Horned Frogs featured individual runners in the 5-mile race, but did not participate in the team competition scoring. Justin Speer fared well as he finished 52nd in a time of 27:59. Sophomore Bryan Katchinska finished 63rd in 28:33. Justin Pillsbury tallied in at 66th in 28:40. Stephen Goff finished the race 87th clocking in at 29:45.
