TCU Women Overwhelm San Jose State

FORT WORTH (Jan. 13) - Junior center Karen Clayton came off the bench to score 16 points and grab eight rebounds to pace TCU to an 84-42 Western Athletic Conference victory in women's college basketball Thursday.
Clayton connected on 7-of-10 from the floor and was perfect on both of her free throw attempts, while also pulling down eight rebounds and handing out five assists in 22 minutes of action.
TCU (10-7/1-1) led 41-21 at intermission, after shooting 55 percent from the floor in the first stanza. The second half was similar, as the Horned Frogs connected on 58 percent from the field, to post a 57 percent accuracy rate for the game. The Frogs also out-boarded the Spartans, 43-33, on the evening.
Clayton got double-figure scoring support from Janice Thomas with 15, Amy Sutton's 14, and 13 from Diamond Jackson.
San Jose State (2-11/0-1) got 11 points from center Sasha Spalding. The Spartans shot just 25 percent on their field goal attempts for the game, and tallied just 21 points each half.
The Horned Frogs host Hawai'i on Saturday, Jan. 15 in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. This game marks the last home appearance for TCU in the month of January. The Frogs will be on the road for three games over the next two weeks.
