FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 19) -- Janice Thomas scored 14 points, including eight in a row to start the second half, to pace TCU to a 98-72 victory over the Houston Jaguars in women's college basketball exhibition game Friday.
Amy Sutton, Diamond Jackson and Sally Spencer each scored 11 for the Horned Frogs. All 12 players on the TCU roster scored at least four points, as the Frogs led by as many as 39 midway through the second half.
TCU stands 1-1 on the season, after upsetting St. Mary's (Calif.) last Monday, 62-51, in the first round round of the preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament. In the quarterfinals, the Frogs lost at 13th-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 86-61.
"I thought we came out focused, with good purpose and intensity," said TCU head coach Jeff Mittie. "Our rebounding continues to amaze me, since we aren't very tall. I think when we're able to spread the floor and when we're running in transition, we are a pretty good basketball team."
The Horned Frogs have seven days before hosting Air Force in a 7 p.m. clash on Nov. 26.
"We are going to spend the next four days working on our execution, going back and developing better habits. That's hard to do when you're playing so many games in a matter of a few days. So, we're going to really utilize this time to improve our team."
The Jaguars were led by Felisha Comeaux with 16 points, while Anitra Davis tallied 13, Mia McCoy scored 11, and Vantrice Williams chipped in with 10 on the night.
