Men's Soccer Blanks Oral Roberts, 3-0

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 5) -- TCU scored one goal early in the first half and two late in the second to shutout Oral Roberts, 3-0, Tuesday. This stretches the Horned Frogs' winning streak to three.
Junior midfielder Matt Groves (Richardson, Texas) scored for the third time this season with his goal at 6:29. Groves' shot was deflected by an Oral Roberts defender before entering the net.
TCU's offense threatened to score with nine of its 14 shots in the second half, including two goals. Sophomore midfielder Josh Rife (Denton, Texas) scored TCU's second goal at 76:11. Rife was assisted by Groves and sophomore Nick Baker (Arlington, Texas). TCU's final goal came from a penalty kick by junior midfielder Doak Van Enk (Denton, Texas) after Dustin Sitar (Las Vegas, Nev.) was fouled inside the 18 by an Oral Roberts offender.
With the win TCU improves to 5-3-1 while Oral Roberts drops to 5-5.
The Horned Frogs open their conference season Friday when they host San Jose State at 3:30 p.m. TCU will then face Fresno State at noon Sunday. Both games will be played at the TCU Soccer Complex.
