Darryl Anderson begins his 17th year in charge of the TCU track & field program during the 2020-21 season. Anderson was named TCU’s head coach on November 18, 2004.

Top Athletes Coached:
Chengetayi Mapaya (TCU)- was named a 2020 All-American before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2019 NCAA Outdoor Triple Jump National Champion Du Mapaya (56-2.5/17.13m), 2019 Big 12 Champion in the triple jump. At the 2019 Big 12 Indoor Championship, Mapaya rose to the occasion, taking home the title with a school-record jump of 16.83m (55-2.75), breaking Scotty Newton's conference meet record from 2017-18. In 2018 he finished third in the triple jump at the NCAA indoor meet and finished third at both conference meets. At the NCAA outdoor meet, Mapaya finished one spot behind Newton and finished fifth.
Lorraine Ugen (TCU) - 2x NCAA Champion, 2014 Big 12 Champion in the long jump, qualified for three world championships (2012, 2014, 2016), made the British Olympic team in 2014, earned a bronze medal at the 2016 world indoors. Had the top long jump in the world in 2018 reaching 7.05m (23-1).
Scotty Newton (TCU) - 2x Big 12 triple jump Champion, two-time First-Team All-America honors in 2018, and set the school record for both seasons, finished fourth at the NCAA meet in 2018. In 2017, Newton earned the first Second-Team All-America honors of his career in the outdoor long jump, outdoor triple jump, and indoor triple jump. In 2016, he placed runner up and third at conference. As a freshman Newton finished third and fourth in the triple jump at the Big 12 indoor and outdoor championships.

Tim Harden (Kentucky)- NCAA Indoor Track and SEC athlete of the year in 1995 and 1996, 2001 indoor world champion, 1996 Olympic silver medalist in the 4x100 relay

Personal:
Anderson graduated from Kansas State in 1983 and earned his master's degree from the school in 1985. He and his wife, Claire, have three children, daughters Kandance and Jasmine, and a son, Isaiah. Kandace and Isaiah are both TCU graduates.
