TCU women's rifle head coach Karen Monez announced the hiring of Hannah Black as the new assistant coach in the summer of 2017. Black returns to her alma mater after a year as the assistant coach at Ole Miss. In January of 2025, Black was promoted to Associate Head Coach.
Black's wealth of experience both collegiately and internationally has paid dividends. TCU took home the 2018-19 and the 2023-24 National Championship, finished as the national runners-up in 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 and finished third in 2017-18. At the discipline level, TCU has claimed three air rifle titles (2021, 2022, 2024) and one smallbore national championship (2019). She was key in mentoring a pair of individual champions in 2019 in freshman Kristen Hemphill (air rifle) and sophomore Elizabeth Marsh (smallbore). TCU has garnered 72 All-America honors, including 44 first-team selections, since her arrival on campus.
TCU returned to the top of the pack with an incredible finish at the 2024 National Championships. The Frogs were within striking distance, sitting in second after smallbore, just six points behind the host institution West Virginia. The Frogs put on a show in air rifle with four of the top eight scores to take home the National Championship. Three Frogs earned five All-America honors while Katie Zaun was named the 2024 CRCA Rifle Athlete of the Year.
The 2022-23 campaign was one of the best in NCAA history. The squad set NCAA record in aggregate score (4,758) in the opening match of the season. The Frogs won 14 of 15 matches while navigating lineup changes during the season due to team members traveling to various international meets. The Frogs won the PRC Championships and finished the campaign as the National Runners-Up. Three Horned Frogs combined to earn nine All-America honors.
TCU defended its air rifle National Championship and once again finished second nationally at the championship match in 2021-22. Four Horned Frogs earned a total of nine All-America accolades.
The Frogs returned to the range in 2020-21 ready to finally get to defend their 2019 title. TCU once again was among the best in the country, ultimately finishing as the National Runner-Up. TCU took home its fourth air rifle National Championship and finished second in air rifle. Four Horned Frogs combined to earn 10 All-America accolades.
TCU looked poised to defend its title in 2020, posting the top qualifying average, but the COVID-19 pandemic ended the season just a day before the competition was set to take place. TCU once again saw six Horned Frogs combine to earn 13 All-America honors.
In 2018-19, the team reached the pinnacle of the rifle world, taking home their third National Championship in this decade. Additionally, the Frogs won the program's second smallbore national championship. Six members of the squad combined to earn 13 All-America honors at the conclusion of the season.

The Horned Frogs won 12 of 14 matches during the 17-18 season en route to a third place finish at the NCAA Championships. At the end of the season, five Frogs combined to earn 13 All-America honors.
In her time with the Rebels, Black helped senior Alison Weisz qualify as an individual for the 2017 NCAA Championships where she turned in an 11th place finish in air rifle and was honored as a second-team All-American.
Black was a four-year member of the TCU Rifle team from 2012-16. TCU qualified for the NCAA Championships all four years she was a member of the squad. As a freshman, Black qualified as an individual in air rifle and fired a 594 to earn a spot in the finals and ultimately finished fifth overall. In her final three seasons on campus, Black was one of the five shooters at the championships helping TCU to a sixth place finish in 2014, a third place finish in 2015 and a second place finish in 2016.
She has also been a part of the US National Team since 2014 where she has participated in numerous international competitions. Black has participated in the Pan Am games, the Bavarian Airgun Championships, the Championship of the America's games in addition to taking part in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic trials as well as five World Cups.
She earned six All-America honors over the course of her career. In addition, her success bled over into the classroom as well. She was a member of the National Honor Society of College Scholars in addition to being on the Dean's List for eight semesters.
