This Season - Cathcart is the Horned Frogs[apos] top returnee in the 50-free... provides solid leadership to a talented group of swimmers... excels in sprints and will be looked upon to lead the team.
As a Junior in 2004-2005 - TCU[apos]s Most Outstanding Swimmer... led the team in the 50-free... earned three all-conference medals at the Conference USA Championships... won the 50-free with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time (23.28)... was a member of TCU[apos]s 200-free relay that finished with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 1:33.01, which was both a meet and school record... her time of 23.24 seconds in the 50-free broke the school record in the event by 1/100th of a second... also was a member of the 200-medley relay team that finished as the league runner up (1:44.70)... was a part of the fourth place 400-medley relay team (3:52.30)... finished ninth in the 100-breast (1:07.81) and 10th in the 100-free (52.08)... received the team[apos]s 'small star'... named to C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll.
As a Sophomore in 2003-2004 - NCAA 'B' qualifier in the 50-free... all-C-USA honoree in four events... member of the 200-medley and 200-free relays that set school and meet records with times of 1:44.11 and 1:33.78, respectively, at the C-USA Championships... also was a member of the runner-up 400-medley relay (3:50.25)... individually, placed third in the 50-free (23.50) and 12th in the 100-breast (1:06.82)... recognized with the Horned Frog Determination Award.
As a Freshman in 2002-2003 - All-Conference USA selection... member of the championship 200-free relay that set a TCU school record (1:35.04)... finished ninth in the 50-free (24.25) and 100-breast (1:07.27) and 12th in the 200-breast (2:28.52)... named team[apos]s Most Spirited.
High School - Two-time all-state and all-district selection... attended Webb H.S. in Henderson, N.C., prior to closing out prep career in Texas... placed third at North Carolina state meet in the 50-free... finished third at YMCA Nationals in 50-free... 2002 Academic All-America... Webb[apos]s MVP for four years... Longview[apos]s Most Outstanding Swimmer in 2001-2002... team captain all four years.
Personal - Full name is Mary Leann Michelle Cathcart... born Apr. 17, 1984... daughter of Cornelius and Fay Cathcart... named to the Dean[apos]s List in the business school in the spring of 2004... comes from an athletic family, as her parents both played collegiate basketball at UNC-Chapel Hill... sister, Stacey, played basketball at North Carolina Central, and another sister, Fritzie, was a gymnast at UNC-Chapel Hill... family has moved back to Henderson, N.C.... enjoys collecting stamps, spending time with family and reading... business major.
