
Dabney on John Mackey Award Watch List

TCU newcomer was All-Big 12 last season
FORT WORTH -- TCU's Drake Dabney has been named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, presented to the nation's top tight end.
Dabney is in his first season at TCU after being selected honorable-mention All-Big 12 at Baylor last year. He set a Bears' season record for receiving yards by a tight end with 552 while leading the team with five touchdown catches on 33 receptions. Dabney topped 100 yards on two occasions, including 105 and a career-long 63-yard touchdown as part of four grabs at Kansas State. His 101 yards in the season opener against Texas State marked Baylor's first 100-yard game by a tight end in 59 years.
A native of Cypress, Texas, Dabney had a team-best four receptions for 77 yards against TCU last season while adding a 21-yard touchdown catch versus the Horned Frogs in 2021. He was rated by ESPN as the nation's No. 14 tight end as a senior at Cypress Ranch High School.
