Bech, Fox, Hoover, Nichols and Obiazor to represent the Horned Frogs
FORT WORTH -- The TCU football program will be represented at Big 12 Media Day by wide receiver Jack Bech, defensive lineman Caleb Fox, quarterback Josh Hoover, offensive lineman Mike Nichols and linebacker Namdi Obiazor.
This year's event will be held on July 9 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and televised on ESPNU and ESPN+.
TCU Head Coach Sonny Dykes called Bech the Offensive Most Valuable Player in spring practice. Bech will be making his second conference media day appearance as he represented LSU at the 2022 SEC Media Day. Bech was limited by injury to eight games last season, totaling 12 receptions with at least one catch in each contest played.
Fox started all 12 games last season and earned All-Big 12 honors. He placed second on the TCU defensive front with 28 tackles and among the team leaders with 4.0 for loss.
After starting the final six games last year, Hoover was the 2023 Honorable-Mention Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. He became the first TCU quarterback since at least 2005 with 300-plus yards passing in five of his first six career starts and one of just two FBS players in 2023. Hoover's first start saw him complete 37-of-58 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-11 win over BYU. He became the first Power Five quarterback with 400 yards passing and four touchdowns in his first career start since 2019. He also completed 24-of-29 passes for 412 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-17 victory against Baylor. The 82.8 completion percentage ranked sixth for a game in TCU history, while the 412 yards passing made him the second Power Five quarterback (C.J. Stroud, Ohio State) since 2019 to throw for at least 400 yards in two of his opening five starts and the first from the Big 12 to accomplish the feat.
Nichols played in all 12 contests last season with six starts. He totaled 671 snaps on the year with a season-high 102 in the 36-13 win at Houston.
Obiazor was All-Big 12 and Honorable-Mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He led TCU with 84 tackles and 4.0 sacks while placing second with six quarterback hurries and third with 6.0 tackles for loss.
