
TCU Drops Finale To Kansas State

Morris fans six in 3 2/3 innings
FORT WORTH – Kansas State built a 6-0 lead and held on for a 6-3 win over TCU to salvage a split the Saturday doubleheader at Lupton Stadium. Peyton Chatagnier and Kurtis Byrne each had two hits in the loss. Zack Morris matched his career-high with six strikeouts.
The Rundown
Kansas State built a 6-0, scoring twice in the first, third and fifth innings. The Horned Frogs did good to limit the Wildcats to just two runs in the first after the first four batters reached. Caedmon Parker (2-1) got a double play ball and a strikeout to get out of the jam. A two-run home run in the third and a two-run double in the fifth accounted for the Wildcat runs.
TCU was held hitless through the first four innings of the game, but Luke Boyers broke up the no-hitter to lead off the fifth with a bunt single. Jack Arthur tripled home the first run of the game and scored on a Ryder Robinson sacrifice fly to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
The Frogs pulled within three with a two-out run in the sixth. Logan Maxwell singled with one out and moved to second on a Kurtis Byrne base hit. Sam Myers doubled down the right field line to make it a 6-3 game. With the tying run at the plate, the Wildcats brought on their closer to get out of the jam.
The Frogs had chances in each of the final three innings with base runners in each frame, but could not get any closer.
Zack Morris was tremendous out of the bullpen, allowing just one base runner in his 3 2/3 innings on the mound. He matched his career-high with six strikeouts in the contest. Hunter Hodges struck out three around a one-out walk in the ninth.
