
Three Medals Earned on Day Four of Big 12’s

Edgar Cicanci breaks the 100 backstroke school record
Morgantown, W. Va. – The TCU swimming and diving team brought home one silver and two bronze medals and set two new school records on day four of the Big 12 Championships.
THE RUNDOWN
The evening of finals began on the boards where Lauren Cey and Leah Fletcher represented TCU in the b final. Fletcher placed second earning a career high 257.25 while also moving to number three in the TCU record books. Cey wrapped up the event with a career high 244.50 moving to sixth in TCU history.
Anna Kwong placed sixth in the championship final of the event earning a 264.30. Tonight's score was a personal best for the junior and the second highest score ever in TCU history.
Back in the pool, Morgan Gore placed eighth in the championship final of the women's 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.65 to get the night started. Piotr Sadlowski won the b final of the men's division touching the wall at 1:46.50.
Claire Chahbandour finished sixth in the women 100 breaststroke where she earned an NCAA "B cut" with a time of 1:00.64. Jadon Wuilliez and Kito Camossato finished third and fourth in the men's 100 breaststroke both earning NCAA "B cuts" with times of 52.29 and 52.46, respectively.
The 100 backstroke was the next event where Tania Quaglieri placed fourth and earned a "B cut" touching the wall at 52.95. In the men's division, Edgar Cicanci broke his own standing school record, earned a "B cut" and claimed the bronze medal with a time of 46.63.
Tonight's event concluded with the 200 freestyle relay where the women's team of Olivia Rhodes, Mikayla Popham, Serena Gould and Chahbandour placed second and set a new school record with a 1:30.13. The men's team of Wuilliez, Raphael Paiva Da Lima, Parker Hughes and Luke DiMiceli set a new TCU record touching the wall at 1:19.07.
Through four days of events the men's team holds steady at second place (1,041) behind Texas (1,538). The women's team is in third place with a score of 879.50 behind Texas (1,506) and Houston (954.50).
