Bailey, Kalunde Ngao and Kellett honored by TCU
FORT WORTH – Emani Bailey of football, Tabitha Kalunde Ngao of cross country and Lauren Kellett of soccer have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by SciFit.
Bailey, a 5-9 junior, enjoyed a banner weekend out of the backfield. He had a career-high 164 yards against Colorado, the most by a Horned Frog since Kendre Miller rushed for 185 yards at Texas Tech in 2021. Bailey also scooted for a career-long 74-yard run vs. the Buffalos that doubled his previous personal best. TCU football returns to action at home this Saturday, Sept. 9, as they take on Nicholls.
Ngao, a freshman from Nairobi, Kenya, won the inaugural John McKenzie Invitational on Friday with a 5k time of 17:07.40. She led TCU to a second-place team finish (44 points). Horned Frog cross country makes the short drive down Interstate 30 for the UTA Gerald Richey Invitational on Saturday.
Kellet, a goalkeeper from Coppell, Texas, etched her name into the TCU soccer record books. The 5-8 senior became TCU's all-time career shutout leader in the Horned Frogs draw vs. UAB. Kellett then pitched another shutout in a thrilling 1-0 victory over Texas A&M on Sunday. She recorded a season-high seven saves, four of which came in the match's final 13 minutes. In the 78th minute, Kellet stopped a penalty kick and rebound shot consecutively to keep the match level. For her efforts, Kellet was honored as Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week. TCU soccer faces Purdue at 7 p.m. tonight in West Lafayette, Indiana.
