
TCU Wins Rubber Match; Takes Series From No. 24 Cal State Fullerton

FORT WORTH – TCU scored six unanswered runs en route to a 6-1 victory over No. 24 Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Kurtis Byrne led the offense with two hits and a pair of two out RBIs in the game.
The Rundown
The pitching quartet of Kole Klecker, Cam Brown, Cohen Feser and Ben Abeldt was outstanding in holding Cal State Fullerton to an unearned run on five hits.
Klecker fanned three in his two innings of work. Brown (3-2) struck out five in 3 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Feser retired the first 10 batter he faced. He gave up two hits and struck out three in two innings. Abeldt needed just one pitch to get the game-ending double play to lock up the win.
Entering the fifth trailing 1-0, TCU scored twice to take a lead it would never relinquish. Logan Maxwell's triple to left drove in Austin Davis with the tying run. A wild pitch allowed Maxwell to race home with the go-ahead run.
TCU added some insurance in the sixth as it scored four times on four hits. Brayden Taylor and Cole Fontenelle swapped doubles to make it a 3-1 game. Karson Bowen followed with an RBI single for a 4-1 lead. With two in scoring position, Kurtis Byrne picked up a pair of two-out RBIs for a 6-1 lead.

7 – TCU held Cal State Fullerton to just seven runs (four earned) on the weekend. The Titans only scored runs in one inning in each contest.
