Former Frog Sabrina Iqbal also set to compete
FORT WORTH – TCU sophomore women's golfer Caitlyn Macnab will compete in the 2023 Augusta National Women's Amateur, beginning Wednesday at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club.
Macnab's 71.59 stroke average is second to her own TCU record of 71.53 in the 2021-22 campaign. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Macnab has shot par or better in 16 of 22 rounds this season. She shot a 14-under 202 to finish third at the MountainView Collegiate. It was one of her four top-five results in the 2022-23 season. She won first place outright at the Schooner Fall Classic, third at the Jim West Challenge and fourth at the Battle at the Beach, all scores coming in under 210. She has eight sub-70 rounds on the year.
Former Horned Frog Sabrina Iqbal (2018-22) will also be competing, marking her second appearance at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. Iqbal broke the scoring average record in her final season at TCU, posting a 71.81 per 18 holes. Iqbal's single win and eight top-10 finishes has her ranked as the 84th womens amateur in the world.
Macnab's first-round tee time Wednesday is at 8:30 a.m. CDT. Iqbal will tee off at 7:23 a.m. Live scoring can be found HERE.
TCU is represented at the Augusta National Women's Amateur for the third straight year as Iqbal played in the 2021 event and Macnab playing in last year's event.
