Former Horned Frog selected to 2023 Solheim Cup
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Former TCU women's golf standout Angela Stanford has been selected as an assistant captain of the 2023 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
Stanford, a six-time member of the U.S. Team, will join U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Stacy Lewis, along with fellow captains Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis and the top 12 American female golfers at the Solheim Cup, which will be held at Finca Cortesin in Spain on Sept. 22-24, 2023.
Stanford is TCU's only four-time All-American. The 1999 WAC Player of the Year won 10 tournaments overall at TCU. Her four individual titles as a senior, which included the 2000 WAC Championship, still ranks first all-time in program history.
Stanford has been a member of the LPGA Tour since 2001. She has six LPGA Tour victories, which includes her first major title at the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship. She has competed in six Solheim Cups, representing the USA in 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. In 2015, Stanford earned the winning point for the U.S. Team with her 2-and-1 victory over Suzann Pettersen.
