
Alvarez, Moreno Place Top 5 at Elite 16 Tournament

The top duo for the Frogs recorded three wins and advanced to quarterfinals
HAMBURG, Germany – Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno posted a Top 5 finish at the Elite 16 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Tournament in Hamburg, Germany.
Representing Spain, the duo advanced out of pool play with wins against Japan's Ishii/Mizoe (27-25, 24-26, 18-16) and Spain's Soria/Gonzalez (16-21, 29-27, 15-9).
Most impressively, Alvarez and Moreno picked up a three-set win against Latvia's Graudina/Kravcenoka, the team who placed fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, 17-21, 21-19, 15-5. Ultimately, the duo fell to USA's Cheng/Flint 26-28, 16-21. The youngest team in the tournament finished with three total wins and garnered a fifth-place finish.
No stranger to the international stage this summer, Alvarez and Moreno took first in the CEV U22 Beach Volleyball European Championships in the Netherlands. They also placed third at the 2022 Beach Volleyball World Futures Event in Turkey.
Alvarez and Moreno had one of the most impressive seasons in TCU beach volleyball history. The duo posted a 26-7 overall record on the season and earned CCSA Pair of the Year honors. The Horned Frogs also were named AVCA First Team All-Americans and tabbed a AVCA Top Flight Winner.
TCU advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Championships as the No. 2 seed after posting a 38-3 record on the year. The Frogs ended the year tied for seventh at the NCAA Championships and set program records with wins (39) , top 10 victories (14) and wins over top 20 opponents (21).
