FORT WORTH – Brayden Taylor of baseball and Sydney Berube of equestrian along with the entire men's tennis team have all been named TCU Student-Athletes of the week, presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Taylor, a sophomore from West Jordan, Utah, was named Big 12 Player of the Week after batting a conference-best .636 this past weekend during the Horned Frogs' matchups against San Diego State, California and Houston in the MLB4 tournament. He also recorded a multi-hit game in each contest, accounting for 9 of TCU's 21 runs on the weekend.
Baseball will be back in action at Globe Life Field in Arlington for a three game series against Nebraska. The series opener is set for 6 p.m. on Friday.
Berube, a sophomore from Bedford, N.H., helped lead the Frogs to a 15-5 win over No. 8 Fresno State, notching wins in both fences and flat. She was awarded Most Outstanding Player honors in fences for her role in the Frogs' victory. This marks the TCU's fifth-straight victory and its longest winning streak since the 2010-11 season.
Equestrian is back in the saddle this Saturday, Feb. 26, at Diamond Creek Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas for a home meet against No.1 Oklahoma State. Events begin at 10 a.m.
The men's tennis team had a weekend for the history books at the ITA National Championships this past weekend. The Frogs defeated No. 12 Virginia, No. 13 Texas, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 1 Ohio State to bring home the program's first ever National Championship. These victories pushed TCU's winning streak to 10. TCU now has seven wins over ranked opponents this season.
Men's tennis will return to the purple courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center next Wednesday, March 2, for a home match-up against No. 49 Michigan. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
