WACO, Texas – TCU equestrian had six horses named in the NCEA top 10 horse list, the association announced Thursday afternoon. Two horses were honored in both Fences and Flat, while one TCU horse was in both the Horsemanship and Reining events.
"It is such a pleasure to have our horses honored in these top 10 lists," TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "Our team works so hard, but these horses work even harder. They are out here are practice giving us all they have and allowing us to get better. It is quite rewarding to hear other schools admire the quality they bring to the show arena as well."
With six horses honored, the 2021 group breaks another program mark with six top 10 horse honors beating the previous season best of five in 2014.
Mabel was named both a Fences and Flat top 10 horse. She becomes the first horse to be named a top 10 horse for multiple events in the same year in program history.
Callisto earns top 10 honors for the third consecutive season and is the first horse in program history to be in the top 10 three years running, passing Matt who was back-to-back in 2013 and 14.
Lina also follows up her 2020 top 10 award with a second-consecutive honor in Flat.
Jake earns his first NCEA recognition as a top 10 horse in his time at TCU.
Snoop Dog rounds out the TCU horses on the list with his second career top 10 Reining award. He was previously recognized in 2019 and joins Shy as a Reining horse to make multiple top 10 lists.
