FORT WORTH — TCU track & field has signed Mathilda Bjorklund, a sophomore throws specialist out of New Mexico Junior College.
Her top two events are the hammer throw outdoors and the weight throw indoors. Bjorklund's personal-best marks are 186-8 (56.91m) and 59-4.75 (18.10m), respectively.
Hailing from Falun, Sweden, she is currently ranked third nationally in the NJCAA rankings and is a two-time All-American indoors in the weight throw.
She recently won the hammer throw competition at the Texas Tech Red Raider Masked Rider Invitational earlier this month. Bjorklund threw the hammer 185-9 (56.62m) en route to first place.
At the 2020 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, she placed second in the weight throw, setting her personal record in the process.
"Mathilda is a very talented Hammer thrower that will immediately help our program," associate head coach John Kenneson said. "Mathilda has outstanding technical skills and is also very strong in the weight room with her lifts. We are very excited to welcome her to the Frog family!"
