QUOTE OF THE DAY
"We are so excited for our conference championship," TCU Head Women's Golf Coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "The ladies have prepared so well these last two weeks with match play events, qualifying, quality practices and intense workouts. We have grown so much this year. As always, we are looking forward to competing with class and character. We are grateful to represent TCU with purple pride!"
GOING LOW
TCU'S 296.2 stroke average this season is on pace to finish fourth in program history. The Horned Frogs have four top-five finishes in seven team tournaments in the 2020-21 campaign.
THE TCU LINEUP
TCU will be represented at the Big 12 Championship by Greta Bruner, Sabrina Iqbal, Sabrina Nguyen, Lois Lau and Valeria Pacheco.
• Bruner will be playing just outside her hometown of Conroe, Texas. The graduate student posted a season-best tie for 22nd at The Bruzzy in her last tournament. She will be playing in her third Big 12 Championship. She tied for 16th as a sophomore in 2018 when she went on to become an NCAA Regional Individual Qualifier. She was All-Big 12 in 2019.
• Iqbal has posted 19 top-20 results, including 12 in the top 10, in 27 career tournaments. She has played in all but one event in her three years at TCU, missing only last month's The Bruzzy when she competed at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. The San Jose, Calif., native tied for eighth at the 2019 Big 12 Championship.
• Nguyen, a freshman from Escondido, Calif., is tied for third on the team with a 74.7 stroke average. She will be in her seventh tournament of the season and has a pair of top-20 finishes.
• Lau is also a freshman. The Noisy-sur-Ecole, France, native is one of two Horned Frogs to play in all eight tournaments this season. She's ranked in the top 250 nationally by both Golfweek (238) and Golfstat (242) and is No. 337 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Her team-best 74.2 stroke average includes four sub-70 rounds. She has four top-20 finishes this season, including two in the top 10.
• Pacheco is having a career-best season. Her 74.8 stroke average is 1.5 shots better than her previous low. The product of Hallandale Beach, Fla., was TCU's top finisher at The Bruzzy, tying for 15th with a 1-over-par 217 to give her a second top-20 result in six tournaments this year.
