
TCU Opens Strong at Icon Invitational; 3 Under as a Team

Nguyen's second-round 69 has her tied for 10th
HUMBLE, Texas -- Led by freshman Sabrina Nguyen's second-round 69, the TCU women's golf team shot 3-under-par and is in fifth place after Monday's opening 36 holes of the Icon Invitational in Humble, Texas.
The Horned Frogs' 573 through two rounds is just nine strokes behind No. 1 Baylor and No. 8 LSU for the team lead. TCU trails No. 11 Oklahoma State by four shots for third. The Horned Frogs totaled 24 birdies and an eagle on the day.

The Horned Frogs
Nguyen's career best 3-under 69 featured four birdies to go with par on 13 holes. The Escondido, Calif., native also posted four opening-round birdies en route to an even-par 72. She is in 10th place, only five strokes behind a trio of golfers tied atop the leaderboard at 8 under.
TCU's Sabrina Iqbal is at 1-under 143 and tied for 17th. She recorded a pair of birdies and parred15 holes for a second round 1-under 71. The junior from San Jose, Calif., had two birdies for her first round even par 72.
Valeria Pacheco carded an eagle on the par 4, 295-yard 12th hole to highlight her opening round 1-under 71. She had par on 15 holes for a second-round 75. She is tied with teammate Lois Lau for 29th at 2-over 146.
Lau's opening round 2-under 70 featured three birdies.
Jennie Park shot par on 15 holes with a birdie for a second round 1-over 73. She birdied four of her final eight holes to post a 74in the first round.
