Four Horned Frogs recognized for last week's effort
FORT WORTH – TCU men's basketball players Mike Miles and Chuck O'Bannon, along with women's basketball players Lauren Heard and Aja Holmes have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Miles averaged 20.0 points 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while helping lead TCU to a pair of wins over Utah and Texas A&M. He tied a career-high with 28 points in the win over Utah and then tallied 12 points against the Aggies. He became the first TCU player in 21 seasons with at least 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in a game.
O'Bannon tied a career-high with his team-best 18 points in TCU's win over Texas A&M. He added three rebounds, a pair of blocked shots, an assist and a steal against the Aggies.
The men's basketball team is back in action this Saturday, Dec. 18, taking on Georgetown in Washington, D.C. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
Heard scored a season-high 33 points in TCU's upset win over No. 18-ranked Texas A&M this past Sunday. She scored 30 points in a game for the fifth time in her career. She was 18-of-21 from the free throw line, which included going 13-of-14 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter. She would go onto earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors this past Monday.
Holmes came off the bench and knocked down a team-best six three-pointers in the win over the Aggies. She set a new career-high with 22 points in just 27 minutes of playing time. She was 7-of-12 from the field overall and pulled down a pair of rebounds.
The women's basketball team is back in action this Sunday, Dec. 19, hosting Incarnate Word. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside Schollmaier Areana.
