
Barber, Cumby, Miles and O'Brien Named December Scholar-Athletes of the Month

Fort Worth – Taye Barber from football, Noah Cumby from men's swimming and diving, Mike Miles from men's basketball and Ashleen O'Brien from women's swimming and diving, have all been named TCU's December Scholar-Athletes of the Month.
The football team wrapped up its season in December, winning five out of the last six games of the season. Barber finished the year averaging an impressive 10.3 yards per catch. The junior wide-receiver finished the season with 372 total yards.
Barber is a criminal justice major.
Cumby had an eventful start to the month at the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational in Austin, Texas. The 6-5 junior from Newfoundland broke the school record in the 100 free, swimming a 43.83, surpassing the record he previously set at 43.94. Cumby also participated in the men's 200 yard freestyle relay alongside teammates Piotr Sadlowski, Jackson Boersma and Stefan Varga, in which the four swimmers moved up to No. 4 in the TCU record book with a time of 1:21.14.
Cumby is majoring in business info systems major with a minor in computer science.
Mike Miles continues to make an impact for the Horned Frogs basketball team. In December, the first-year guard scored 15 or more points in six out of seven games, including a season high 26 points against North Dakota State. Miles has been red hot throughout the season, shooting 40.4% from deep and 42.8% from the field. He is the second leading scorer on the team with 13.4 points per game and third in the Big 12 Conference among freshmen.
Miles is currently pre major.
O'Brien was another member of TCU Swimming and Diving that made noise down in Austin. The sophomore from Moraga, Calif. swam a collegiate-best 53.84 in 100 back, just .01 seconds off the TCU record set by Maddie Ibrahim. She secured an NCAA B cut and remains No. 2 in school history.
O'Brien is a psychology major.
