FORT WORTH - Grace Collins and Emily Alvarado of soccer and Darwin Barlow of football have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Collins is a sophomore forward from Houston, Texas. This past Friday, as the women's soccer team battled to defend their undefeated season versus Oklahoma, she scored the game-winning goal. She produced the 1-0 lead for the Frogs in the 73rd minute, working around her defender. This was Collins' career-high fourth goal of the season, along with being her second game-winning goal.
Alvarado is a senior goalkeeper from El Paso, Texas. Against Oklahoma, she accumulated five saves to become TCU's all-time shutout record holder with 19. She recorded her sixth shutout of the season and made her best save right after the Frogs took the lead with a leaping stop on a shot from distance.
TCU attempts to maintain their undefeated season this Friday versus West Virginia at 7 p.m.
Barlow is a redshirt freshman running back from Newton, Texas. On last Saturday's game versus Baylor, he scored the first touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run. This made for his third rushing touchdown of the season. He finished with a career-high 117 yards rushing as the Horned Frogs totaled 247 yards on the grounds. As TCU led 33-7 in the third quarter, Barlow rushed for a career-long 74-yard carry and also being the Frogs' longest play from scrimmage this season.
The Horned Frogs play Texas Tech at home this coming Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Worth.
