FORT WORTH - Grace Collins and Tijana Duricek of soccer, Khari Coleman of football and Ashleen O'Brien of swimming have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Collins is a sophomore forward from Houston, Texas. This past Sunday versus Kansas State, the Wildcats held a 2-0 advantage in the first half, but Collins helped cut the deficit in half with an assist to bring the score to 2-1. In overtime, Collins ripped a turnaround shot that bounced past the diving keeper and found its way inside the far post for the game-winning tally just three minutes into the extra session. TCU won the game 3-2 to remain atop the Big 12 Conference standings.
Duricek is a senior defender from Novi Sad, Serbia. As the Frogs took on #8 Kansas this past Thursday, she scored in the 25th minute for a 1-0 lead. It was her second goal of the season along as she played the entirety of the match.
The Frogs attempt to remain undefeated at Oklahoma this Friday at 7 p.m.
Coleman is a freshman defensive end from New Orleans, La. Although the Frogs fell short this past Sunday versus the Sooners, he totaled a career-high eight tackles. A true freshman, 3.5 of Coleman's tackles were for loss including one sack. It was the most tackles for loss in a game by a Horned Frog since last year's season opener.
TCU takes on Baylor in Waco next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
O'Brien is a sophomore from Moraga, Calif. Upon the Horned Frog women taking down SMU for the first time in program history, she placed first in the 100 backstroke and butterfly. As a transfer from UC Davis, she swam a collegiate-best 54.54 and now sits in second on TCU's all-time records in the 100 backstroke.
TCU faces off against a premier program in Texas A&M on Nov. 6 in College Station, Texas.
