FORT WORTH - Janis Silins of men's swimming, Jake Fearnley of men's tennis and Payton Crews of women's soccer have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Silins is sophomore from Valmiera, Latvia. This past week as the Frogs faced Missouri, he earned an NCAA B cut in the 100 breast after clocking a 54.10 en route to a first-place finish. He now possesses both TCU records in the breastroke.
Swimming and diving take on SMU this Friday, October 23 and 12p.m. in Dallas.
Fearnley is a freshman from Edinburgh, Scotland. He led his team with three singles wins to help TCU finish 9-5 in singles competition over student-athletes from Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma last weekend in the TCU Invite. He finished as the tournament runner-up, while taking down two ITA ranked opponents.
This upcoming weekend men's tennis will attend the ITA Fall Regional Championships in Waco, Texas.
Crews is a junior midfielder from Orange Park, Fla. This past Friday in a 2-0 win over Texas Tech, she accumulated her first and second assists of the season, increasing her career total to five. Crews played a major role in the Frog's maintaining their undefeated season at 4-0-1.
Women's soccer attempts to continue their undefeated record this Thursday, October 22 at Kansas.
