Audrey Nalls leads all Big 12 freshmen in kills, points, kills/set and point/set
FORT WORTH -- Freshman outside hitter Audrey Nalls earned Big 12 Rookie of the week honors, announced the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Nalls led the way over the weekend with 25 kills (3.12 kills/set), 10 digs, six blocks and two aces as TCU defeated both Miami and Auburn to win the Add-Ran Cup.
"Audrey has transitioned into the collegiate game well. With her being the lone six rotation player for us right now, she's carried a big load for us. She's a lot of fun to coach and we know this the only the beginning for her. We're looking forward to her growth in the game for years to come."
The Waxahachie native set a career high against Miami on Friday (Sept. 13) when she posted five total blocks to go along with her eight kills. She followed that with a 17-kill performance against Auburn, her fourth 15+ kill match in her last six appearances.
Nalls has started her TCU career on a scorching pace. The 6-foot-1-inch outside received Big 12 preseason freshman of the year honors and has followed that by leading all Big 12 freshman in kills (103), kills/set (3.55), points (115.5) and points/set (3.98). She has led the team in kills in six of eight matches to start the season and now, has earned her first-career conference rookie of the week honor.
Nalls and the rest of the Horned Frogs continue the 2019 non-conference campaign on the road as they travel across I-30 to SMU for a Wednesday night tilt with the Mustangs. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
