Frogs begin the season at Pebble Beach
FORT WORTH, Texas – For the seventh time in eight years, the TCU men's golf team will open the season at one of the most beautiful courses in the world when it competes at the Carmel Cup starting Friday.
Pebble Beach Golf Links, home to six U.S. Open Championships, more than any course in the last 50 years, will once again play host to the Carmel Cup. Started eight years ago by TCU alum Fin Ewing, the Carmel Cup features eight of the top teams in collegiate golf including five ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll. The field includes four Big 12 Conference teams and three teams that made match play at last season's NCAA Championship.
The six individuals that will travel to Carmel, Calif., are returners Trevor Brown and Justin Gums and newcomers Thomas Allkins, Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, Gustav Frimodt and Aymeric Laussot. The top five finishers will count towards the team score.
TCU will tee off at 9 a.m. CT on Friday. The three-round tournament will continue on Saturday and finish on Sunday.

THE COURSE – Par 72 | 6,828 yards
Pebble Beach Golf Links is unanimously rated as the No. 1 public course in the country. Pebble Beach hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, more than any other course over the last 50 years. The course hosts the PGA TOUR event AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am every February, a tradition that began in 1947.
THE FIELD (listed by the Bushnell/Golfweek Poll)
No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 13 Georgia, No. 18 Texas Tech, Arkansas (RV), TCU (RV), Mississippi State.
NEW YEAR, NEW TEAM
TCU enjoyed a breakout season last year. Capitalizing on its 30th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, the Frogs finished second at the Austin Regional and 15th at the NCAA Championships. TCU earned momentum into postseason play by finishing second at the Big 12 Championships, the Frogs' highest finish in their six years in the conference.
Gone are the six seniors that made up those postseason squads including Big 12 Champion Hayden Springer and two-time All-American Stefano Mazzoli. Among TCU's six newcomers this season are five freshmen and one transfer. Returning from last season's team are Brown, Gums and Alejandro Aguilera.
MÖRK PROMOTED
On Wednesday, Adrien Mörk was promoted to associate head coach. The third-year member of Bill Montigel's staff served as an assistant coach the previous two seasons.
