
Longmire Takes Home Silver, Several Advance to Sunday’s Finals

NORMAN, Okla. – Adding more hardware in her first season as a Horned Frog, Destiny Longmire took home silver with a second-place finish in the women's long jump on Saturday at the 2019 Big 12 Track & Field Championships.
SILVER MEDAL
On her sixth and final attempt, Longmire jumped 6.37m (20-10.75) to move into the second-place spot. Saturday's jump was her second-farthest this season and was .05m (2") out of first-place. Longmire was the Big 12 champion in the indoor long jump earlier this year.
400 METERS
In the men's 400m, a pair of Horned Frogs qualified for Sunday's championship. Derrick Mokaleng won his heat and paced the field with a time of 46.32, while Jostyn Andrews claimed the ninth spot with a time of 47.22.
On the women's side, Lily Beckford finished second in her heat with a time of 54.15 and automatically qualified for Sunday's finals.
100 METERS
TCU qualified a total of four Frogs for both the men's and women's 100m finals on Sunday. Tarrick Brock won his heat in the men's 100m with a time of 10.40, the second-fastest of the prelims. Tinotenda Matiyenga will join him in the 100m finals after running 10.45, the fifth-fastest in the prelims. Matiyenga also ran the sixth-fastest time in the 200m prelims (20.98), which qualifies him for the 200m finals.
Hope Glenn finished second in her heat of the women's 100m with a time of 11.66 to advance to the finals. Shortly after earning a silver medal in the long jump, Longmire finished second in her heat of the 100m as well and advanced to the finals with a time of 11.80.
HURDLES
Senior Brittney Trought earned her third-consecutive trip to the Big 12 100 hurdles finals, finishing with a time of 13.80.
In the men's 110 hurdles prelims, freshman Rainey Anderson made his outdoor season debut with a time of 14.37 and finished fifth to advance to the finals. Anderson's last race with the Big 12 Indoor Championships earlier this year.
Fellow freshman Blake Hennesay also earned a spot in Sunday's finals. In the men's 400 hurdles prelims, Hennesay ran 52.60 to finish second in his heat and automatically qualify.
THROWS
From Friday's action, Fellan McGuigan scored TCU's first points for the men. In the hammer throw, McGuigan finished fifth with a throw of 59.93m (196-7).
In the women's shot put, Brooklin Klopf found her way to the podium and scored points for TCU. Klopf threw a personal-best 14.72m (48-3.25) and finished eighth.
CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY
From Saturday's results, TCU earned 11 spots in Sunday's finals. Sunday will also feature TCU in both the men's and women's 4x100 relays and the men's and women's 4x400 relays. Chengetayi Mapaya headlines Sunday's men's triple jump field with the highest ranked jump (16.64m). Evelyn Mandel, Kirsten Johnston, and Lakelin Conrad will represent TCU in Sunday's 5,000m, while Adam McAdoo will compete in the men's pole vault and Klopf will compete in the women's discus.
