TCU Opens National Relays

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – TCU track and field opened competition at the National Relay Championships on Friday, with several Frogs competing well in their respective events.
The highest placer of the day was Tinotenda Matiyenga in the men's 200m. The sophomore sprinter finished second in with a time of 20.91. Entering the meet, Matiyenga was TCU's highest ranked athlete in the 200m, ranking No.12 in the NCAA West Region.
Tarrick Brock also placed high in his race. The junior from Chatsworth, Calif., won his heat in the men's 100m with a time of 10.48 and finished third overall. Brock is one of TCU's highest ranked athletes, ranking seventh in the West Region in the men's 100m.
In the men's pole vault, redshirt-sophomore Adam McAdoo set a TCU school record and personal-best, reaching 5.10m (16-8.75). Entering the meet, the previous outdoor record was 4.90m (16-0.75), set in 2004 by Rob Coffman. McAdoo now holds both TCU's indoor and outdoor records.
Freshman Blake Hennesay took a major step forward in the men's 400 hurdles, winning his heat and placing sixth overall with a personal-best 51.74. His best time entering the meet was 53.51, nearly a two-second drop. His time from Friday is the fastest by a Horned Frog since 2015 when Lavon Collins ran 51.61. Collins was second-team All-Big 12 that season.
In the women's long jump, Destiny Longmire jumped 6.25m (20-6.25) to finish fifth. Longmire is currently TCU's highest ranked athlete on the women's side, ranking seventh in the West Region in the long jump.
Hope Glenn placing fifth among collegians in the women's 100m, finishing in 11.61.
TCU returns to action on Saturday for day two of the National Relay Championships. Saturday will feature TCU in the men's and women's 4x400 relay, men's and women's 4x100 relays, men's triple jump, and women's shot put. The meet will be broadcast on the SEC Network fro 10am-12pm CT.
