Sophomore earns her first collegiate honor
IRVING, Texas – TCU sophomore Raegan Rast was named the Big 12 Rider of the Month in Equitation over Fences. It was the first honor Rast has earned in competition in her collegiate career and she becomes the fourth Horned Frog to earn Rider of the Month this season.
"I think this award is a huge testament to Raegan as a rider and especially as a younger student-athlete, it says a lot about who she is, how accomplished she is and how hard she has worked," TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "She just gets better and better every week. This award really reflects that. She works hard outside of required practice and is always looking to better herself as a rider and an athlete mentally and physically."
Rast went undefeated on the month with a 4-0 record, two of those wins coming in the Big 12 Championship. Rast won her four points by an average of 8.5 points, with her biggest victory coming against Baylor in a 79-55 decision on Connor.
Rast has been a consistent performer all season long for the Frogs, only having two meets where she has totaled a score lower than 77.
Rast and the Equitation over Fences team earned the No. 2 seed in the Fences championship, claiming a first-round bye at the NCEA Championships in Waco, Texas. They will take on the winner of Georgia and South Dakota State in the second round. In the team championship, No. 8 TCU will take on Auburn in the first round Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
