TCU is in fourth place after Sunday's first round
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- The No. 23 TCU women's golf team is in fourth place after Sunday's opening round of the Big 12 Championship.
The Horned Frogs shot an 11-over-par 299 and are 12 strokes behind leader and No. 2 Texas with its 1-under 287.
"We had really solid playing today on a great championship course," TCU Head Women's Golf Coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "We had a good start with a lot of golf left. I'm proud of our discipline and dispositions all day!"
Annika Clark, the lone senior in the TCU lineup and playing in her fourth Big 12 Championship, is the top Horned Frog. She is tied for 10th after a 2-over 74. All five of her team-high birdies came in an eight-hole stretch.
Sabrina Iqbal, Greta Bruner and Valeria Pacheco carded 75s for TCU and are tied for 14th. Iqbal and Pacheco are freshmen.
All four of Iqbal's birdies came on her opening eight holes, including three consecutive on holes 6 through 8. Bruner also had four birdies, including three consecutive on holes 15-to-17. Pacheco had a birdie while recording par on 14 holes.
