H20 FROG TO AD
It was great to see former TCU diver Kevin Saal be named director of athletics at Murray State. Kevin, who graduated from TCU in 1999, had served the past 12 years as executive associate director of athletics at Kentucky. Congratulations Kevin!
SPRING SALE DATE SET
Holiday shopping for Horned Frogs begins Saturday, April 13, when our very popular Spring Sale returns. More information will be announced soon, but make sure to keep the 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. window open that day!
SPRING SPORTS SUCCESS
Led by our three individual Big 12 championships in men's and women's indoor track and field, our spring sports are off to a great start! Baseball is ranked 20th and had a 10-2 win over No. 1 Vanderbilt. Men's tennis is 11th nationally with victories in the last few weeks over No. 3 Mississippi State, No. 7 UCLA and No. 11 Illinois. Women's golf is ranked 18th and Greta Bruner tied a TCU record for 54-hole score with a 6-under-par 210 at the ICON Invitational. Rifle has earned its 13th-consecutive selection to the NCAA Championships, while equestrian is ranked No. 8. Beach volleyball is 19th nationally and has already defeated a pair of ranked opponents.
Our basketball programs have combined for 38 wins this season and are both still very much in NCAA Tournament discussion. Our women won at Oklahoma for the first time in program history and have back-to-back 20-win campaigns for the first time since 2009-10 and 2010-11.
THANK YOU SENIORS
We had Senior Night the last two evenings in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. Congratulations to men's basketball's JD Miller and Alex Robinson as well as Jordan Moore, Amy Okonkwo and Dakota Vann from our women's basketball program!

STUDENT-ATHLETE RECOGNITION
Each week, we recognize departmental Student-Athletes of the Week. Please see below for our recipients last month:
Feb. 5 – Derrick Mokaleng (men's indoor track and field) and Destiny Longmire (women's indoor track and field)
Feb. 12 – Desmond Bane (men's basketball) and Amy Okonkwo (women's basketball)
Feb. 19 – Bertus Kruger (men's tennis) and Lauren Heard (women's basketball)
Feb. 26 – Du Mapaya (men's indoor track and field), Lily Beckford (women's indoor track and field) and Destiny Longmire (women's indoor track and field)
Additionally, our February Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Month are Derrick Mokaleng and Destiny Longmire.
We're also well represented with Big 12 accolades. Jordan Moore from women's basketball is a first-team All-Big 12 selection and on the All-Defensive Team, while Amy Okonkwo was named second-team All-Big 12. Jordan was also a Big 12 Player of the Week in February along with Bertus Kruger (men's tennis). Greta Bruner was voted Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for the second time this season and equestrian's Josie Mootz earned Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month honors for February.
CLASSROOM EXCELLENCE
The Big 12's highest academic honor is the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have lettered at least once in their respective sports and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.80 with 100 hours of earned credit. A special Frogs Up to our following student-athletes who earned selection: Laska Anderson (equestrian), Megan Bowers (swimming and diving), Nate Guyton (football), Molly Hamel (cross country), Amanda Key (swimming and diving) and Brooke McDougald (women's golf).
FIST BUMP
This month's Fist Bump recipient is Judy Altenberg-Cyr, an administrative assistant with our Olympic sports. When one of our student-athletes went home for winter break, he was diagnosed with cancer. Judy took it upon herself to have many of our sports participate in the creation of a scrapbook to lift the spirits of this young man and show him that he was very much in the thoughts of his TCU family. The incredible response from the other sports and student-athletes was another reinforcement of the special nature of the TCU community.
DID YOU KNOW?
The original TCU mascot made its debut in 1949 and was a 6-foot-tall purple creature known as "Addie the Fighting Frog," named after Addison Clark, Jr., son of one of the founding brothers of the University. After undergoing many transformations in subsequent years, the mascot was rebranded as SuperFrog in 1979.
