Preview: Fight in the Fort

FORT WORTH, Texas – After going 1-1 last weekend, the No. 20 TCU beach volleyball team looks forward to hosting the Fight in the Fort from March 23-24 at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Horned Frogs (7-9) open the tournament on Saturday by facing a familiar foe in Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-6) at 10:30 a.m., and Houston Baptist (4-6) at 2:30 p.m. The Frogs proceed to Sunday by playing No. 7 Cal Poly (6-5) at 10 a.m., and conclude the tournament by facing Central Arkansas (2-1) at 2:30 p.m.
TCU Notables
TCU went 1-1 at the Islanders Beach Volleyball Classic with a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi and a 3-2 loss to UNC-Wilmington. The No. 5 pair of Avery Arellano and Hailey Brockett extended their win streak to three over the weekend. They are 9-4 as a duo this season and are tied with Taylor Bradley and Molly Scheel for the most wins as a pair on the team.
The Competition
A&M-Corpus Christi went 2-2 at their Islanders Beach Volleyball Classic last weekend. They picked up wins over UNC-Wilmington (4-5) and HBU but fell against TCU and dropped a second match versus UNCW.
Houston Baptist also competed at the Islanders Beach Volleyball Classic last weekend and they went 0-2. The Huskies fell to TCU and the Islanders.
No. 7 Cal Poly went 3-0 in the team's last competitions in Santa Monica, Calif. The Mustangs swept Missouri Valley State and also beat Concordia (4-1) and No. 13 Loyola Marymount (3-2). The pair of Crissy Jones and Tiadora Miric lead the Mustangs with a 5-3 record as the duo are on a three-match win streak.
Central Arkansas began their season last weekend at the Austin Peay Beach Volleyball Tournament. The Bears went 2-1 and earned victories over Jacksonville State (5-0) and Southern Miss (4-1), but they fell to Austin Peay (3-2). Two pairs for the Bears are undefeated as they ramp up their season.
