Preview: Horned Frogs Challenge

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU beach volleyball season continues this weekend as the Horned Frogs host the Horned Frogs Challenge from March 1-2.
The tournament features fellow CCSA conference members No. 16 Georgia State (2-2) and No. 17 Tulane (2-3), as well as No. 19 Grand Canyon (1-2) and Missouri State (0-0). On Friday, the Frogs will face GSU at 10:30 a.m., and Tulane at 2:30 p.m. Competition for the Frogs begins on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., against GCU and continues at 4:00 p.m., versus MSU.
TCU Notables
The Frogs went 2-2 last week at the Paradise at the Burrow. Both wins came in sweeps on the second day of competition. Two TCU pairs earned all three of their wins in straight sets. Mandi Orellana and Haven Hill played at the No. 2 position and Taylor Bradley and Molly Scheel played on court three in wins over North Florida, Webber and Florida Southern.
The Competition
Georgia State is currently 2-2 and ranked No. 16 in the AVCA poll. They competed at the Stetson Spring Fling last weekend where they won against Eckerd and Saint Leo but dropped duals versus No. 15 Stetson and No. 9 FIU. TCU is 2-2 all-time versus the Panthers.
Tulane went 2-3 last week and held on to their AVCA ranking, clocking in at No. 17. The Green Wave opened the season at the FSU Invitational and won one match against the University of Tampa. They lost the rest in a crowded field that featured No. 5 FSU, No. 7 Cal Poly and No. 4 LSU. Tulane also won a midweek home match versus Houston Baptist. TCU is 1-3 against Tulane.
Grand Canyon is 1-2 and they opened their season at home by hosting New Mexico, No. 15 Loyola Marymount and Arizona State. GCU is ranked No. 19 in the current AVCA poll after beating New Mexico. The Frogs are 0-2 versus the Lopes.
Missouri State went 7-10 in their first season of play and they return seven players from last year. This will be the first time TCU will face the Bears in a dual match.
