FORT WORTH — TCU's women's swimming and diving team takes a short trip up I-35 to Denton on Saturday for a dual meet against North Texas.

TCU's women placed third while the men finished in fourth place at the SMU Invite.
Izzy Ashdown took both 1- and 3-meter boards en route to two NCAA Zone qualifying scores. Ashdown registered a 305.85 in 1-meter and a 304.95 on 3-meter.
Connie Deighton reached finals in 3-meter diving, improving one spot from her prelim seeding and placing seventh with a 244.10.
In platform diving, both Deighton and freshman Graciela Liang qualified for the 'A' final. Deighton finished third while Liang placed seventh.
The Frogs recorded multiple program top-10 times in the pool as well.
Record Holders
Ashdown broke two school records en route to first-place finishes on both boards against UIW. On 1-Meter, Ashdown's 323.625 bested Kirsten Connolly's 2016 record of 321.30. In 3-Meter, the Sydney, Australia native's 362.175 edged Kelly Seely's 360.15 that had stood since 2006.
The men's 400 Free Relay team of Noah Cumby, Rasmus Pederson, Jackson Boersma and Dusan Babic swam a 2:57.47 en route to breaking a record that had stood since 2014.
TCU currently has two short course record holders on its roster between Noah Cumby (100 and 200 Free) and Joao Andrade 500 Free).
NCAA Zone Cuts
Janis Silins' 100 Breast (54.08) and 200 Breast (1:57.24) times at the SMU Invite granted him NCAA B cuts. He is the first Horned Frog swimmer to obtain an NCAA cut this season.
Deighton registered her first NCAA qualifying scores of the season on both boards against UIW. The sophomore scored a 276 on 1-Meter and 306.375 on 3-Meter.
Faith Harms-Zacharias has registered three NCAA qualifying scores on 1-meter in 2019, coming at the TYR Fall Classic, the Malibu Classic and the SMU dual meet. The freshman also earned a zone cut on 3-meter in TCU's home opener against UT Permian Basin.
Ashdown has five NCAA Zone cuts on 3-meter and four zone cuts on 1-meter.
The Series
North Texas' women won last season's dual meeting, 157-140.
TCU is 3-5 in its previous eight meetings versus UNT, and looks to snap a five-meet losing streak. The Horned Frogs most recent win took place at home in 2015. New assistant coach Mona Groteguth-Garcia swam in that contest for the Mean Green, winning the 200 Back and placing second in the 100 Back. TCU's last win in Denton came in 2014.
