Sophomore honored for Fences success
IRVING, Texas – Following a 2-0 month, sophomore Izzy Baxter earned Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month honors, as announced by the Conference Monday afternoon.
"Isabella brings out the best in each horse she rides," TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "We are proud of her earning this honor and look for more to come."
The award marks the first monthly recognition she has earned by the Big 12 in her career and the first of the season. She was named to the All-Big 12 team last year and was recognized as the NCEA Fences Rider of the Month in February.
Baxter picked up wins in both meets during the month, winning 85-81 on Casanova at Baylor and then 80-76 on Fiona, against Oklahoma State. Baxter has registered scores of 80 or above in all but one of her rides this season, with that score being a 79.
The sophomore continues to impress, totaling 16 wins in her young career, complimented by eight Most Outstanding Performer honors, which is two away from an English record of career MOPs in a single event.
Baxter is the second Horned Frog to be a Big 12 Rider of the Month on the season, following Raegan Rast who garnered it last month, also in Fences.
