Preview: TCU Heads to Louisiana For Fall Scrimmages

Horned Frogs will play six teams in two days
FORT WORTH – The TCU beach volleyball team will travel to Louisiana for a pair of fall exhibition tournaments. The Horned Frogs will take part in the Tulane Fall Competition on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Elmwood, La. and the LSU Fall Competition on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Baton Rouge, La. These tournaments will be TCU's final exhibitions of the fall.
TCU is coming off of solid showings in its first two fall tournaments. On Oct. 5, TCU hosted Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist, and ULM in the Horned Frogs Fall Challenge and only lost two of their 20 matches. On Oct. 20, the Horned Frogs won 13 of their 16 matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist in the HBU Fall Tournament.
The Horned Frogs will begin matches at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Tulane Fall Competition and will compete throughout the afternoon. On Sunday, TCU is scheduled to begin its matches in the LSU Fall Competition at 9:00 a.m. and finish up at around 3:00 p.m.
The Competition
TCU will face New Orleans, Tulane, and Spring Hill in the Tulane Fall Competition.
New Orleans finished last season with a 15-13 record, its best record in program history. The Privateers return seniors Veronica and Victoria Corcoran, who won a combined 36 matches last season. TCU has never faced New Orleans in program history.
Tulane recorded a 16-18 record last year. TCU and Tulane have met six times in regular season play, with Tulane holding the 4-2 series lead. In their two meetings last season, TCU won 4-1 in the Horned Frogs Challenge on Mar. 1 but fell 2-3 in the Surf and Turf Invitational on Mar. 30. The Green Wave roster features 11 returners and three freshmen newcomers.
Spring Hill finished last season with a 20-11 record, the first 20-win season in program history. The Sandy Badgers closed last season with a third-place finish in the AVCA Small College Beach Championship. TCU and Spring Hill have never squared off in program history.
The Horned Frogs will compete against LSU, Houston Baptist, and Southeastern Louisiana in the LSU Fall Competition.
LSU recorded a 31-8 record last season, setting a program record in wins. The Tigers finished in third place at the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship, a team that included current Horned Frog graduate-transfer Olivia Beyer. LSU returns 15 players from last year's team, including eight who finished with at least 15 wins. TCU faced LSU twice last season, dropping both matches.
HBU finished last season winning each of their final eight matches on its way to winning the Southland Showcase Title. Houston Baptist has squared off against TCU twice this fall. The Horned Frogs went 6-3-1 against the Huskies in the Horned Frogs Fall Challenge and 5-3 against the Huskies in the HBU Fall Tournament. TCU is 7-0 all-time against HBU in regular season meetings.
The 2020 season for Southeastern Louisiana will be the beach volleyball program's first in school history. The Lions are coached by Jeremy White, a native of Vidor, Texas.
