FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU beach volleyball team hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist, and ULM in the Horned Frogs Fall Challenge on Saturday, October 5 at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts. Matches are set to begin at 10 a.m. and last throughout the day.
TCU finished last season with an 18-16 record in their first season in the CCSA. The Horned Frogs return ten players from a year ago, including five seniors, junior Jordan Westendorff, and four sophomores. TCU's five seniors are the most the Horned Frogs have had on one roster in program history.
Every active member of the TCU roster is expected to see action. It will be the first chance for fans to see all seven of TCU's newcomers competing in a TCU uniform, including graduate transfer Olivia Beyer and the former No. 2 Spanish amateur beach volleyball player in Daniela Alvarez.
All four teams will shuffle around the four courts facing each other throughout the day. Play will begin at 10 a.m. with the Horned Frogs facing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on all four courts. The last round of matches is tentatively scheduled to begin at 4:50 p.m. with TCU facing ULM.
The Competition
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished with a 14-15 record last season. The Islanders closed out the season winning five of their last seven matches and finished second in the Southland Showcase. The Horned Frogs are 8-0 all-time against the Islanders, with TCU's last win coming in the TCU Invitational on April 12, 2019.
Houston Baptist recorded a 17-11 record last year. The Huskies finished their campaign winning each of their final eight matches on their way to winning the Southland Showcase Title. TCU is 7-0 all-time against HBU. The last matchup between the two occurred in last year's Fight in the Fort on Mar. 23, 2019, when TCU won 5-0.
ULM finished last season with a 13-18 record. The Warhawks won four of their final five matches and return ten players from last season's roster. TCU last matched up with ULM in the 2018 Horned Frog Challenge on Feb. 25, 2018 as the Frogs earned a 5-0 win.
