Pacheco and Rast earn weekly honors
FORT WORTH – Valeria Pacheco from women's golf and Raegan Rast of equestrian have been named TCU's Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Cram Crew.
Pacheco, a sophomore from Hallandale Beach, Fla., paced the Frogs as they finished 11-under at the Jim West Challenge and tied a school record for 54-hole score. In the opening round, she also tied the TCU single-round record with an 8-under-par 64 that featured eight birdies. Pacheco finished the match tied for 17th overall with a career best tournament score of 212 while the team placed sixth overall.
TCU's women's golf team returns to action when it travels to Cabo, Mexico for the Battle at the Beach Tournament on Nov. 1 – Nov. 3.
Rast, a junior from Stilwell, Kan., helped TCU to a 2-1 record over the weekend as they faced off against Sweet Briar, SUNY New Paltz and No. 1 Auburn. She remained undefeated in Fences (6-0) totaling three points in three wins for the Frogs all coming on unfamiliar horses. Against top-ranked Auburn, she defeated a two-time All-American rider and tied her highest mark of the season with an 82.
TCU's fifth-ranked equestrian team begins Big 12 competition on Nov. 1 at Baylor.
